NEW MOVIES

"Let the Right One In" (R). This technically well-crafted Swedish vampire movie is just as smart thematically. A lonely 12-year-old schoolboy becomes friends with a 12-year-old girl who happens to be a vampire. Grade: B+ Opens Friday, Nov. 14.

"Quantum of Solace" (PG-13). Not reviewed. Daniel Craig returns as Agent 007 in the latest James Bond installment. Opens Nov. 14.

NOW PLAYING

"Beverly Hills Chihuahua" (PG). Grade: C Owings Mills 17, Hunt Valley 12, AMC White Marsh

"Changeling" (R). Director Clint Eastwood tries to be stately and instead achieves a stilted tone in this true story about a single mother in Los Angeles in the 1920s whose young son goes missing. Grade: B- Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12

"Eagle Eye" (PG-13). Relentless chases, hyperkinetic editing and explosive score amount to noisy bells and whistles in this skimpy political thriller. Grade: C+ Owings Mills 17

"The Haunting of Molly Hartley" (PG-13). Haley Bennett plays a disturbed teen whose hallucinations may be all too real. The movie's scary potential is spoiled by plot developments so extreme that you'll only be haunted by disappointment. Grade: C Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17

"High School Musical 3: Senior Year" (G). Grade: B- Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12

"I.O.U.S.A." (NR). Timely documentary about the national debt. Grade: B Charles Theatre

"Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" (PG). This animated sequel has the zoo gang exploring mainland Africa. Grade: C+ Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12, AMC White Marsh

"Max Payne" (PG-13). Its video game origins account for the superficiality of a mediocre action movie in which Mark Wahlberg merely goes through the violent motions. Grade: C- Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12

"Pride and Glory" (R). The story about corruption in the New York police department. Grade: B- Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17, Hunt Valley 12, AMC White Marsh

"Rachel Getting Married" (R). Director Jonathan Demme conveys a vivid sense of what it's like for a recovering addict (Anne Hathaway) to return home for her sister's wedding. Grade: B Owings Mills 17

"RocknRolla" (R). Gangster movie whose slickness is matched by its emptiness. Grade: C Owings Mills 17, Hunt Valley 12

"Role Models" (R). Yet another rude comedy in which grown men act like juveniles. Grade: C Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12

"Saw V" (R). Grade: D- Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12, AMC White Marsh

"Soul Men" (R). Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson are enjoyably cast as feuding soul singers who agree to reunite, resulting in a slapstick-filled road trip. Grade: C+ Valley Center 9, Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12, AMC White Marsh, Senator Theatre

"Zack and Miri" (R). Mostly unsuccessful comedy about financially desperate friends who decide to make a pornographic movie. Grade: C Owings Mills 17, Towson Commons 8, Hunt Valley 12
