Apparently Councilman Vince Gardina thinks so or he would not have warned a Kingsville resident to be careful about removing advertisements from the windows of cars.
Mike Pierce, a community activist from Kingsville, testified today in favor of a bill that would create a do-not-deliver list for companies that place fliers at county residences. The bill, sponsored by Councilman John Olszewski Sr., would also prohibit leaving fliers on car windows.
Pierce presented the council with a 3-inch thick stack of glossy fliers from a local insurance agent he said that he took off the windshields of cars parked at a Park and Ride lot in White Marsh.
“I’d be careful taking fliers off car windshields if I were you,” a grinning Gardina told Pierce. “You might get shot. Especially in Perry Hall.”
As president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, I find these comments to be unbelievable. I know of no crime wave in Perry Hall, except some shed burglaries and vandalism. Certainly Perry Hall isn't Chicago of the 1920s. We live in a very safe community; it's one of the things people cite when they move to Perry Hall. These comments certainly are not welcome.

Councilman Gardina often demonstrates gross stupidity or bad judgment. It's past time that he was replaced, along with the other members of the Council. As far as this anti-flyer bill is concerned, the Council passed a law against "bandit" signs a year or two back, and in the aftermath the problem has gotten exponentially worse. The best thing these council members could do is to call in sick on meeting nights.

I have been a resident of Perry Hall for 50+ years and have always felt completely safe. Thanks to Councilman Gardina, I now feel I should have a bodyguard to walk in my neighborhood. Wake up Perry Hall. You helped put this guy in office. It's time to rid ourselves of him and other members of the local political machine. Councilman Gardina, how dare you !!! - I hope you can attend the Perry Hall Fair next weekend, if you think it will be safe. I understand security will be tight - they plan to scan everyone before entering and make them check their guns at the door. I'm sure there will be lots of people who would personally like to thank you for the kind comments about their community.
