Farmers interested in learning how to reduce their energy costs can apply for a farm energy audit at a reduced price.
A new program offers farmers who qualify an energy audit for $300, which is only 25 percent of the normal audit fee. And the cost is refunded if the farmer installs any equipment recommended by the audit.
In addition, the program offers financial incentives to buy equipment such as energy efficient lighting, heating, refrigeration, ventilation, motors and more.
The Maryland Statewide Farm Energy Audit Program is funded by the Maryland Energy Administration, and administered by Eastern Shore Resource Conservation & Development Council and EnSave, Inc., a Vermont-based company that has done energy audits for farmers since 1991.
