RTA Inc., of Sparks, an affiliate of Indemnity Insurance of DC Group, and Affirmative Insurance Holdings Inc., of Burr Ridge, Ill., have agreed on RTA's acquisition of AIH's USAgencies Direct Insurance Co. The transaction, expected to close in the fourth quarter, involves no employees or existing business of USAD, and the company owns no real estate. Upon the close of the transaction, the newly acquired entity will be renamed Indemnity Insurance Corporation of New York.
Katie Cree, of Street, is the new Chief Operations Officer with Rosenkilde and Associates/Abco Insurance. Cree has been in risk management and insurance since 1999, beginning her career with Abco. She is also studying for her Certified Insurance Counselor designation. Rosenkilde and Associates is a multi -location, multi-lines property and casualty agency in Jacksonville and Reisterstown.
The Conflict Resolution Center of Baltimore County, a nonprofit, officially opens Oct. 15, which is also Conflict Resolution Day, at its new office at 8831 Satyr Hill Road, in Parkville. The nonprofit invites the community to come by its office to find out more about mediation and other conflict resolution services.
Stephen James graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, in Tacoma, Wash. James is the son of Ronald and Janice James, of Phoenix. James is a 2006 graduate of Loyola Blakefield High School, in Towson.
Steven Koehn, director of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service, was sworn in as president of the National Association of Foresters at its 87th annual meeting, in Albuquerque, N.M.
David Nevins is the chairman of Baltimore's 26th annual Heart Ball, sponsored by the American Heart Association, to be held Feb. 20, at Martins Valley Mansion, in Hunt Valley. Nevins is president of Nevins and Associates, a Hunt Valley-based marketing and public affairs firm.
Roseda Farm, in Monkton, ranked as second largest in registering the most Angus beef cattle in Maryland having recorded 65 head of Angus with the American Angus Association during fiscal year 2009, which ended Sept. 30.
Pvt. Jacob Shaver, of Manchester, was promoted to Pfc. on Oct. 8 at the Naval Air Station, in Pensacola, Fla., where he is currently stationed for training. He graduated from boot camp, in Parris Island, S.C. on July 24. He is the son of Keith and Carol Shaver, of Sparks, and the late Cathy Shaver.
