Revitalization efforts continue in Pikesville as the Fedder Company makes modifications to its buildings in the 1200 block of Reisterstown Road. Construction began on Aug. 20 and is expected to be completed in mid-November.
The project will encompass the modernization of the facade and the creation of an open air courtyard from the parking lot to the main entrance of the stores. To create this, they have had to eliminate one store totaling 800 square feet. They have also begun a major renovation of the old firehouse to create one large, open, level space, more suitable for rental to a restaurant or retailer. The firehouse had three levels on the main level with structural walls that impeded traffic flow. This will create a great space with a lot of character.
Radio Shack and Mattress Warehouse will remain open during the construction.
Mari Luna is preparing for the grand opening of its new restaurant Sept. 29. They will be the latest addition to Pikesville's Restaurant Row. The new restaurant will feature a full bar, extensive wine list, roof-top dining and a different and expanded menu. The original Mari Luna Mexican Grill will remain open at Seven Mile Lane and Reisterstown Road.
The new restaurant will feature different tastes of Latin American, south and central American and Caribbean food with an expanded menu featuring a variety of steak and seafood dishes. Jaime Luna and his family are looking forward to this exciting new venture and invite you to come see the new, colorful restaurant which is certain to be Pikesville's newest, upbeat restaurant.
The Pikesville Chamber of Commerce will feature its second free networking event on Wednesday, Sept. 24, hosted by Bradford Bank at 1777 Reisterstown Road, off of Hooks Lane. The event will be from 5-7 p.m. and is a great way to meet members of the chamber and the staff of Bradford Bank. More than 100 people attended the chamber's first networking event at BB&T at Quarry Lake in June. It was a great evening that resulted in new contacts for all. Bradford Bank has planned a special event and we hope to see you there. Call the chamber for reservations.
On Oct. 16, the chamber features an annual update with Councilman Kevin Kamenetz at Linwoods Restaurant. This breakfast meeting is a great opportunity to find out the latest developments for Pikesville. Councilman Kamenetz has just completed the CZMP process and will tell everyone about the issues for Pikesville.

The economy has experienced many downturns that have affected everyone including the revenues that are generated by the State. The Baltimore Sun recently reported that these revenues are significantly less than projected, which means that our state legislators will have a difficult challenge in balancing the budget. The Pikesville chamber invites you to join us Dec. 11, when we bring together the legislators from both the 11th and 42nd districts. Find out first-hand exactly what the major challenges will be in the upcoming legislative session and what the priorities are for each legislator. This is an opportunity to hear an insider's view to the challenges on the state level. The breakfast meeting starts at 8 a.m. and will take place at Suburban Club on Park Heights Avenue. The cost is $20 for members, $25 for non-members.
