A seminar will be held at Friendly Farm Restaurant in Upperco on March 25 for farmers interested in learning more about community-supported agriculture.
Most community supported agriculture plans ask members to pay ahead of time for a season’s worth of produce. A farmer uses the membership money to buy seed and other materials. During the growing season, the members receive weekly deliveries of vegetables, and possibly fruits, herbs and flowers. Some CSAs require members to work on the farm occasionally during the growing season.
The CSA workshop is offered by Baltimore County's Cooperative Extension office. It includes information on how to evaluate, plan and get a CSA started. It also offers tips on communicating with members.
The seminar is from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $25, with lunch. To register, call 410-666-1020.
Friendly Farm Restaurant is located at 17434 Foreston Road, Upperco.
