Sept.10: 1st annual Bruce McEwing Memorial Golf Tournament -- sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Grace Council #9815 at the Briarwood East Golf Course located on Rt 30 in West York, Pennsylvania. Check-in is at 10 a.m., and a shotgun start is at 11 a.m. Breakfast (9 a.m.), lunch, and dinner will be provided. Beer and soft drinks will be available throughout the day and during course play. Awards and door prizes will be provided after dinner. The entry fee is $85 per person, or $340 per foursome.

Sept. 10: Backyard Fest -- to celebrate the Arc of Baltimore's 60th anniversary, held in the parking lot and field behind Arc's headquarters, 7215 York Road,  5-8 p.m. (rain date Sept. 17). Sept. 11: Cruisin' for Our Heroes -- Fire Museum of Maryland, 1301 York Road, Lutherville, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Antique fire engines, police vehicles, EMS vehicles, cars, trucks and motorcycles will flood the parking lot of the Fire Museum. Sept. 14: White Marsh Police & Community Relations Council will begin its regular meeting schedule on September 14 at 7 p.m., Precinct 9, 8220 Perry Hall Blvd. Guest speakers will be from The Conflict Resolution Center of Baltimore County. Sept. 17: Helping Hands for Haiti concert with musician Joe Ayala and speaker Dr. Sarla Chand, who survived the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti. Sept. 19: Manly Arts Day -- Hampton National Historic Site, 535 Hampton Lane, Towson, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Learn about and participate in exercises and demonstrations of swordsmanship, boxing and other skills that were used by men and women to "come home alive" in the 19th century. Free. 410 823-1309.

Through Sept. 24: "Feet on the Street" — free Friday night block parties are held downtown Towson through 6-9:30 p.m. each Friday night, on Allegheny Avenue, just west of the Towson roundabout. Any of the block parties are subject to cancellation in the event of rain. Call 410-825-1144 for details.

Sept. 25: Parkville Police Community Relations Council Bull and Oyster Roast -- 7 p.m. to midnight, Tall Cedars Hall, 2501 Putty Hill Avenue, $30 per person. For tickets, call Wayne Diffenbaugh at 410-929-0589.

Through Sept. 25: Two Is Better Than One! -- Baltimore Human Society, 1601 Nicodemus Road in Reisterstown, is running a promotion in which two cats or kittens can be adopted for the price of one. Two adult cats (older than 6 months) can be adopted for $105, and two kittens (younger than 6 months) can be adopted for $125. Oct. 1: A. Aubrey Bodine Course -- Community College of Baltimore County, Hunt Valley, 10 a.m. to noon. Topics to be discussed include: Bodine’s contribution to the history of photography; his impact on the art of photography; a survey of his photographic career; his important trends, styles innovations and a discussion on his impact on 20th century photography. Bodine’s daughter, Jennifer, will be the presenter. Cost: $25. Call CCBC at 443-840-5830 to register.

Oct. 6: "A Circus Like No Other" --Stevenson University will debut a new documentary film, "A Circus Like No Other" by Exsul Van Helden, in Stevenson’s Inscape Theatre on the Greenspring campus located at 1525 Greenspring Valley Road. A public reception will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the screening at 7 p.m. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Oct. 9: Bull Roast and Shrimp Feast — Proceeds will benefit the Wayne Stinchcomb Big Orange Foundation, which helps families battling cancer and supports melanoma research. Ravens tailgate theme; there will be gambling, auctions and live music. 8 p.m. To 12 a.m., 4301 Klosterman Ave., White Marsh. Tickets are $40 for all-you-can-eat pit beef and shrimp. Open bar all night. 

Through Oct. 24: Owings Mills Farmers Market — held each Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the JCC. The Market will have farmers, craftsmen, weekly entertainment, gardening tips, local breads, coffees and teas. For more information, visit www.owingsmillsfarmersmarket.com or call 410-206-8165.
