As the Class of 2009 celebrates their graduation, we join with them, their families, friends and educators in celebrating their educational milestone. Congratulations to the entire Class of 2009 from Perry Hall and Kingsville

Nora Wallace, a 2005 graduate of Perry Hall High School and daughter of Karen and Paul Wallace, of Perry Hall, received in May her Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy from Calvin College, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Nora is presently a graduate student at Washington University in St. Louis pursuing her master's degree in occupational therapy.

Also, congratulations to Melissa Vosburg and her proud Perry Hall parents, Mary and Rick Vosburg. Melissa graduated with a 4.0 average and received her master's degree in clinical psychology from Towson University.

Three Kingsville Elementary School faculty members, third-grade teachers Meghan Daniel and Amy DeNike and instructional assistant Tamee Taylor were nominated for the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Awards for Excellence in Education awards at Martin's West. The Chamber of Commerce named Amy DeNike the Northeast Area Teacher of the Year.

Kingsville Elementary bid farewell to their longtime library media specialist Randy Wolford, who retired this year.

Perry Hall Elementary School's faculty and staff enjoyed an Adventures with Books-themed staff appreciation week in early May.

Mollie Tang, Lily Lanphear, Kelly Brawn, Mary Jackson and Jolie Headley planned the week basing each day on a different book.

Monday was "Breakfast at Danny's Diner," thanks to Bigger & Brighter, State Farm agent Karen Baldwin, Perry Hall McDonalds, Perry Hall's Sanner Florist, The Bagel Bistro, Perry Hall Starbucks, Mars Supermarket and Pampered Chef representative Rachel Hills provided gifts and treats.

On "Giving Tree" Tuesday, Whole Foods, Herr Foods, Walgreens, Rita's Italian Ice, Brick Bodies, Anytime Fitness, A.C. Moore, McDonalds, Buffalo Wild Wings, Susquehanna Bank, Goetze's Candy, Oriental Trading, American Meadows and Brawn Landscaping provided the treats.

Wednesday featured "The Great Pizza Mystery" with lunch and gift basket donated by DeNiro's, Weis Market and Phyllis Rush of Pampered Chef.

On Thursday, the highlight was an "Alice in Wonderland" tea party and gift basket courtesy of Chick-fil-A, Cinnabon, Super Fresh, Cheshire Cats and Wonderland-themed cupcakes from Jolie Headley and the Baltimore Coffee and Tea Co.

The big luncheon on Friday had a "Charlotte's Web" county fair theme. Thanks to Kentucky Fried Chicken, Big Dan's Backyard Bar-B-Que, Kunzler Meats, ABC Rental Center and the Maryland State Fair for a superb day. During the luncheon, drawings took place every few minutes.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with a bang at the 47th annual Fireworks at Fullerton Park. Music starts at 6 p.m., the puppet show begins at 7:30 p.m. and the fireworks start at dark, approximately 9:15 p.m. Rain date is July 5. Donations are greatly appreciated to defray the cost of this event and may be mailed to Allied Community Services, 7110 Willowdale Ave., Baltimore, MD 21206 or go to www.ofbpa.com and click on the donate button to pay through PayPal.

Don't miss the Perry Hall Improvement Association's booth at the Perry Hall Town Fair on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Perry Hall High School, 4601 Ebenezer Road. The booth will highlight PHIA's commitment to the environment and its efforts to promote local history. You'll find information available about the group's plans to plant trees along East Joppa Road this fall. PHIA will have photo albums on display that show important historical events from the past 20 years.
