The sixth annual Civil War Weekend Re-enactment and Encampent will be July 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and July 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The re-enactment, commemorating Confederate Major Harry Gilmor’s 1864 raids across Baltimore and Harford counties, will feature a raid on the general store at Jerusalem Mill Village both Saturday and Sundy, a concert of Civil War music and soldiers inhabiting their military camp.

Children and adults can watch cavalry and artillery demonstrations, take tours of the general store and military camps and interact with costumed interpretors.

Back in 1864, Major Gilmor’s cavalry troops passed through Jerusalem Mill on their way to burn the railroad bridge at Magnolia Station, now simply Magnolia, a few miles southwest of Edgewood. In Jerusalem Mill, the troops helped themselves to supplies and horses from the store and surrounding residents.

The weekend is sponsored by the Friends of Jerusalem Mill, in cooperation with the staff of Gunpowder Falls State Park.

Cost per day for the re-enactment is $7 for adults, $5 for children younger than 16, seniors 60 and older and active duty military with identification. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free. A special family price of $25 is for two adults with three or more children.

Jerusalem Mill Village is at 2813 Jerusalem Road, in Kingsville.
