Two residents of Oak Crest Village retirement community have earned statewide recognition.

June Earles was inducted into the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Oct. 22. A retired media specialist for Baltimore County Public Schools, Earles volunteers in the ministry office at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, at the Maryland School for the Blind, Sarah's Hope at Franklin Square Hospital and at Renaissance Gardens and with the Buddy Reading Program, both at Oak Crest. She is a choir member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Carney and with the Oak Crest Chorus. She is program chairwoman for the St. Peter's Lutheran chapter of the Kiwanis Club.

Minerva Houck created the Sewing for Refugees program at St. Michael Lutheran Church, where her husband was pastor, and at Oak Crest. She organizes three weekly meetings of 30 volunteers to make quilts that have been donated people in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and to people in Africa and India. Houck taught high school business courses, most recently in New York City.

Katie Dickson and Kristen Kreiner, both of of Nottingham, Colleen Witowski and Kaya Vision, both of Parkville, and Ian Moore, of Rosedale are cast members in Children's Playhouse of Maryland's production of "Guys and Dolls," performing at the Community College of Baltimore County, in Essex.
