The Baltimore County Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program is offering Medicare Part D research assistance at local senior centers.

To participate, seniors should make appointments at 410-887-2594.

Items needed at the appointment include Medicare Card and any other health care insurance cards or Medicare supplements; list of medications including dose and frequency of use and knowledge of gross income and assets.

The local research workshops will be held at the Parkville Senior Center, 8601 Harford Road, Nov. 16 and Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Seven Oaks Senior Center, 9210 Seven Courts Drive, Nov. 20 and Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also, the Maryland Senior Prescription Drug Assistance Program is holding a free prescription assistance workshop to see if individuals qualify for the $1,200 "doughnut hole" subsidy or the $300 premium subsidy. The workshop is set for Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harford Center for Senior Citizens, 4920 Harford Road.

To qualify, individuals must live in Maryland, be on Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan and have an income less than $32,490 for one, or $43,701 for a couple.

Those attending should bring a Medicare identification card; list of prescription drugs; a current prescription drug plan statement, if available; proof of residency, such as a state driver's license, state ID card, 6-month old utility bill or rental agreement; and proof of household income, such as 2008 federal income tax return or a copy of Social Security statement.
