Christ United Methodist Church, 2832 Florida Ave., will sponsor a balloon popping party at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
Sunday school supervisor Mikie Johnson will sell the balloons for $5.
When they are popped, you will discover a surprise inside.
All proceeds will be directed to filling the Christmas food baskets, which will be delivered to needy area families on Dec. 19.
That same evening, the church will present a live nativity scene on the parking lot.
Youngsters may pet the animals at 6 p.m. A short play about Jesus' birth, accompanied by a choir, follows at 6:30 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served in fellowship hall.

Joyce Rosewag announced that she is pleased to return as director to the Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center, 424 Third Ave., where she began her career with the Baltimore County Department of Aging 22 years ago.
She said she appreciates recognizing familiar faces and holds fond memories of her previous work in our community. Joyce believes the center offers the gift of making new friends, socializing during appetizing meals and opportunities for learning.
At 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, members are invited to a welcome tea party.
While sampling a variety of cookies, you may sign up for the Dec. 17 Jingle Walk and receive a set of bells for your sneakers.
This holiday event is set from 9 to 10 a.m. next Thursday at the Leadership Through Athletics facility, 2900 Hammonds Ferry Road.

The English Consul Volunteer Fire Department and the juniors earned WJZ-TV's recognition as the Most Enthusiastic Group for their Manic Monday Meltdown performance.
They competed with hundreds of groups from the Baltimore metropolitan area. Stop by the fire hall at 2627 Michigan Ave. to view the trophy.
* From 8 a.m. to noon, the department will serve breakfast with Santa Sunday, Dec. 20.
* Santa Claus will ride through the neighborhoods on a fire truck on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve. He will collect bags of change, which were distributed a month ago.
American Legion Post 195, 2603 Virginia Ave., has tickets remaining for its New Year's Eve party, costing $40. A live band plus a limited open bar, beer, sodas, food and party favors will be available.
The legion is also selling raffle tickets for a 27-inch LCD TV. Tickets are $1 each, three for $2 or 15 for $5. Drawing will take place Dec. 19.
