In December, 11 young members of St. Joseph Parish, Cockeysville, were presented with the annual Joseph the Servant Leader Award at the noon Mass.
This recognition is sponsored by the Youth Ministry Program of St. Joseph parish to honor high school seniors who have exemplified "Joseph the Servant Leader" in their church, home, school and community.
Each recipient was nominated by a member of the parish staff. This year's winners are Michelle Apicella, Joseph Curran, Tyler Holub, Rosa Icel Jaso, Rachel Kokoska, William O'Brien, Brian Phipps, Delaney Rice, John Sebastian, Jennifer Thommen and Mikela Thrasher.
The award, instituted in 2004, recognizes students who demonstrate a Christian attitude by word and example, are active in the parish as well as their school or community, are a positive role model to peers, are practicing Roman Catholics and are high school seniors.

Kudos to Sue Wilson, Ridgely Middle School band director, for being chosen as this year's band director for the Maryland All-State Concert, to be held in February at Morgan State University.
Wilson has been instrumental (no pun intended) in spearheading the Lutherville Timonium Musical Ambassadors and their trip to Scotland and Wales to perform for several organizations there. Her dedication is evident in every aspect of this wonderful group of young musicians.
If you want to support them in their fundraising efforts, come to the Panera's across from the Timonium Fairgrounds Monday, Feb. 1, 6-9 p.m. Proceeds from purchases will help to benefit the trip this March.
