Gregory and Carol Custer, of Catonsville, announce the engagement of their son, Mark Andrew Custer, to Amanda Elizabeth Beattie, daughter of Gloria Eimerbrink, of York, Pa., and James Beattie, of Columbia, Pa.

A graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, the bride-to-be earned a Master of Science degree in special education from Western Maryland College.

She works for the Ivymount School in Rockville, coordinating assistive technology services for students with special needs.

The prospective groom, an alumnus of Catonsville High School and the University of Maryland, completed a Master of Science in special education at Johns Hopkins University.

Employed by Montgomery County Public Schools, he teaches students with autism.

The couple is planning a wedding for the summer of 2009.
