Boy Scout Troop 456, which has been in existence since 1946, celebrated its 100th Scout to achieve the rank of Eagle when it held its Eagle Court of Honor for Gavin Brinker-Cole, Jacob Luco and Andrew Scott at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church.
Each of the three Scouts completed a service project as part of meeting the requirements for attaining Eagle status.
Brinker-Cole, a freshman studying emergency health services at University of Maryland-Baltimore County, planned and constructed bleachers for spectators at St. Timothy’s Church property on Ingleside Avenue for the Christian Athletic Association for his Eagle project.
The Catonsville resident raised the funds to finance the project and enlisted the help of 30 Scouts, parents and friends.
The project will benefit the CAA and Catonsville by making viewing CAA athletic activities a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Luco, whose family moved to Catonsville from Tennessee in 2006, planted redbud trees on the bank of the stream which flows through the Catonsville Historical Society property for his Eagle project.
The project will benefit the Historical Society and its patrons by preventing erosion of the stream’s bank
.
Luco is a freshman at Mount St. Mary's University where he plans to major in accounting.
Scott designed, constructed and installed a sign welcoming students and visitors to Catonsville Hig School in the bus loop off of the Bloomsbury Avenue entrance to the school.
The Catonsville High School senior also participates in CCBC’s parallel enrollment program and hopes to attend Stevenson University, UMBC or Hood College next fall.
