The morning after the momentous presidential election, many residents were delighted to see an e-mail from Stephanie and Bill Regenold, inviting them to a potluck dinner to celebrate Barack Obama's victory. The front porch of their historic Dixon Hill house groaned Nov. 8 as guests partied and watched a slide show featuring images from the campaign and famous Democrats throughout history.
Kids ran and played in the yard while their parents chatted and enjoyed great food and drink. I got to catch up with Laura Liang, Jocelyn and Matt Trudeau, Becky and Rick Redett, Rebecca and Mike Bainum, Chris and Ann Shafer, Felice and Gregg Nass, Myles and Julie Norin, Jill Levin and Gerda Ruiter.
It was a wonderful celebration to mark an extraordinary week in our nation's history.
Local jewelry artist and Mt. Washington resident Shana Kroiz will be exhibiting some of her new work at the Walters Art Gallery Nov. 20-23 as part of the gallery's Jewelry Fair. Shana is nationally recognized as one of the nation's leading jewelry artists working with enamel and metal.

Holiday magic is in the air. Come join your neighbors for festivities in Mt. Washington Village and at St. Johns' Church on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 4-8 p.m. All the shops and restaurants in the Village will be open and serving cider and cookies provided by Whole Foods.
Over at St. John's, the annual HollyDaze Bazaar and Boutique will take place in the Great Hall, featuring crafts, shopping, food, and baked goods. A silent auction will also take place in the Great Hall and will feature over 100 certificates, gift baskets, game tickets, toys, event passes, jewelry, art work and collectibles.
The same day, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Octagon on the Mt. Washington campus of Johns Hopkins University, the neighborhood holiday tree lighting event will take place. First, everyone will gather to sing and enjoy light refreshments. The lighting of the tree will take place at 6:10 p.m. Children are most welcome.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love this special day that reminds us to reflect and give thanks for all we have. Enjoy and celebrate with friends and family.
Happy Thanksgiving!
