Army National Guard Sgt. Maria C. Lumaro participated in the 56th Presidential Inauguration Jan. 20 as part of the largest-ever contingent of National Guard members to serve in Washington.

Lumaro, a human resource specialist, is a member of the 29th Combat Aviation Brigade based in Edgewood, and has served in the military for six years. She is the daughter of Philip and Barbara Luman of Overlea.

A 2001 graduate of Eastern Technical High School, she received an associate degree in 2005 from the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex.
