The Easter bunny is back at K-mart again, from noon to 6 p.m. on weekends, greeting customers and giving the kids candy from his big basket. Earl J. Hooper, of Parkville, who told me he had been doing the Easter bunny gig for five years now, has also been the K-mart Santa Claus for nine years. Between the holiday seasons, Hooper is a regular K-mart employee.

Listen up, Parkville and Carney! The Renaissance Institute, a lifelong learning program at the College of Notre Dame for people older than 50, has openings for fall 2009.

There are so many course offerings, on topics such as literature, poetry, music, film, art, philosophy, science public affairs, religion, acting, photography, computers, current events, and physical fitness, with new ones introduced each 13-week semester.

Members come from varied backgrounds and from all over Baltimore, but only a half dozen or so from Parkville and Carney. So that's why I want to spread the word. I've been attending classes for more than l0 years, and I love it.

The way I get there: I don't get involved with Charles Street at all. My route is south on Perring Parkway, right onto Northern Parkway, left on Springlake Way (just past Bellona), then right on Homeland Avenue, then left into the K of C parking lot, (just past the cemetery), where a shuttle runs constantly the short distance to Fourier Hall.
