Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton is offering a one-day sale of plants and items next month.

The Rare Plants and Garden Ornaments sale will be May 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Customers can buy annuals, perennials, small trees, exotic plants and container specialties, as well as urns, statues, decorative furniture and architectural accents.

Wayne Winterrowd and Joe Eck, authors of "Our Life in Gardens," will speak at 11 a.m. They will also be available to sign their book which recounts 30 years of gardening in Vermont.

At 1 p.m., interior designer Bunny Williams will be on hand to sign her book, "Point of View."

Doors open to those with general admission tickets at 10 a.m. Tickets are $15 for the sale and $25 for the sale and lecture.

An early bird special is offered 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. For $75, customers get reservations for the day's lecture, the first chance to browse among vendors and a continental breakfast.

The Ladew Café will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Local vendors include Kurt Bluemel of Baldwin; Cultivated Designs of Hunt Valley; Circa Antiques of York, Pa.; Draycott Gardens of Upperco; Emory Knoll Farms of Street; Fieldstone Nursery of Parkton; Foxborough Nursery of Street; Gristmill Nursery of Jarrettsville; Halcyon House of Lutherville; and The Gardener of the Owl Valley, York, Pa.

Ladew Topiary Gardens is located at 3535 Jarrettsville Pike, in Monkton.
