Both were recently recognized by Baltimore County Public Schools for volunteering more than 2,500 hours in the schools.
In a recent ceremony for school volunteers with more than 1,000 hours, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Joseph Hairston presented a service pin and recognition certificate to both ladies.
They earned their hours over many years of volunteering at Warren Elementary and Cockeysville Middle schools.
Cockeysville Principal Deb Magness also attended the ceremony and introduced these two exceptional volunteers.

Have you ever watched "American Idol"? Or perhaps you're the new Susan Boyle? Here's your chance to become Baltimore County's Senior Idol.
Singing auditions will be held Tuesday, June 30, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the Cockeysville Senior Center, 10535 York Road, Cockeysville. Come to audition and support the contestants. Light refreshments will be served. Finals at Senior Expo, Oct. 8. Winners compete in the Maryland Senior Idol Contest to be held Jan. 22, 2010. Entrants must be 60 years or older and a county resident. Accompaniment may be live or on a CD.

A quarter auction to benefit the Cockeysville Senior Center, 10535 York Road, Cockeysville, will be held at the center Saturday, June 27. Doors open at 5 p.m., the auction begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $3 and includes one paddle ($2 for an additional paddle). Enjoy playing, socializing and winning. More than 100 items will be on the auction block. Vendors include Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Home Interior, Creative Memories, Discovery Toys and others. Refreshments will be for sale. The Cockeysville Recreation Council has announced a full slate of summer camps for children. Camps start in mid-June and some run until August, but you have to register as soon as possible by contacting the council at 410 887-7734 or going online to www.cockeysvillerec.org. Offerings include cheerleading, basketball and soccer camps, just to name a few.
