Amy Jakiltsch, of Hereford, performed her senior piano recital Nov. 1 in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center at Frostburg State University. Jaklitsch plans to graduate in May 2010 and become an elementary school general music teacher.
Stevenson University announced the following students were on the school's dean's list for the spring 2009 semester: Jennifer Schulte, of Glen Arm, a human services major; Kati Napolillo, of Parkton, a nursing major; Timothy Scherer, of Parkton, a business administration major; Kristie Kline, of Phoenix, a human services major; Sophia Marquez-Wallace, of Phoenix, an interdisciplinary studies major; Elizabeth Pesar, an interdisciplinary studies major; Bradley Hart, of White Hall, a computer information systems major.
Alexis Blair, of Phoenix, was inducted into the Order of the Gownsmen for her high academic achievement at Sewanee, the University of the South in Tennessee.
Stacey Wasserman, of Upperco, graduated from Elizabethtown College in August, with a Master of Science in occupational therapy.
Nicole Ditillo, of Baldwin, received the Gettysburg College Award in athletics at the college's Fall Honors Day ceremonies.
The following students were named as honorable mentions by Notre Dame Preparatory school seniors in the Maryland Distinguished Scholars program: Kaitlin Caubo, Elizabeth Chapolini and Katherine Hill, all of Phoenix; Colleen Quinn, of Baldwin; Allyson Schule, of Glen Arm; Shannon Zakielarz, of Fork; and Elizabeth Colgan, of Hunt Valley. Colgan was also named a Commended Student in the year 1009 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Allison Midei, of Monkton, is studying with the Arts and Culture program in Senegal. She is an English-literature major at Denison University.
The following local students, who attend Towson University, will perform with the university's marching band at the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City: Nicholas Breidigam, percussion; Allison Lindsey, clarinet; and Laura Stemler, sousaphone.
Colin Marshall, of Baldwin, began his first year at Saint Michael's College in Burlington, Vt.
Zack Silber, of Phoenix and a senior at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, was named a Commended Student in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.
