A professor at the Community College of Baltimore County was honored recently by the American Society for Microbiology.

The group awarded biology professor Gary Kaiser the 2008 MicrobeLibrary Visual Resource Editor's Choice Award in the animation category for his "ATP-Binding Cassette System."

Kaiser's animation was chosen from all the resources published in the MicrobeLibrary Visual Collection in 2007.

Kaiser, an Arbutus resident, has worked at the college for 39 years.

He has published several articles in trade publications and been recognized in his field for his work, such as the development of flash animations to better understand microbiology and the creation of a microbiology Web site.
