*2009 Student Art Exhibit: Helena Rudolph, in second grade, was selected to share her artwork at the 2009 Student Art Exhibit at the Maryland General Assembly. The exhibit was presented by the Maryland Art Education Association in cooperation with the Maryland State Arts Council.
*Allison Wade and Grant Brown had their art work on exhibit at the Walters Art Museum in celebration of Youth Art Month in March.
*Emma Charles, a second grader, was named a winner in a contest sponsored by MICCA. MICCA was formerly the Maryland Instructional Computers Coordinators Association, and is now Maryland Association for Educators Using Technology. Emma depicted a scene to honor veterans, and used straight line tools to make her flag and paintbrush and shapes to depict people. Her work will be on display at the MICCA conference this spring.
*Thys Millan, in second grade, and Maddie Wilkenson, in third grade, were winners of the Young Author's contest sponsored by the Baltimore County Reading Council and the State of Maryland Reading Council. Emma Charles, as well as fifth-graders Ryan Powers and Damian Remmel, received honorable mentions.
*At the annual M&T Bank 24 Challenge, held March 7 at the Crowne Plaza in Timonium, Christina Ivey won a silver medal in the single digits category, and Haley Jolly won a silver medal in double digits.
Jessica Decker, of Baldwin, was named to the dean's list at Syracuse University in New York for the fall semester. She has also been awarded an Allport Research Grant from the university to continue her research on the effects of child, teacher and school characteristics on written expression skills.
