Jennifer Heagy, of Phoenix, a 2005 graduate of Hereford High School, graduated in May with honors, magna cum laude from the Seidel School of Education at Salisbury University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a minor in psychology.

Kristen Gunther, of Hydes, graduated with honors May 23 from Bowdoin College, in Brunswick, Maine, with majors in English and environmental studies. She will spend the next year in Cheyenne, Wyo., in a VISTA program, before attending graduate school.

Nathan Villagaray-Carski, son of Chris Karski and Shirley Villagaray of Parkton, has been accepted for the fall semester at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Nathan Villagaray-Carski graduated from Hereford High School this spring. He also was awarded a $10,000 Engineering Scholars Award from Northrop Grumman.

The following local students received bachelors degrees May 23 from McDaniel College, in Westminster.

* Colvin Franklin, of Monkton, graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology;

* Christopher Worthington, of Sparks, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English;

* Kevin Jubb, of White Hall graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in biology.

Elizabeth Pearce, of Monkton, graduated Cum Laude from Washington College, in Chestertown, Md., with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry. She was inducted in the national honor society, Beta Beta Beta. She hopes to pursue a career in the veterinary field.

Adrian Kostrubiak, son of Drs. Roman and Irene Kostrubiak, of Monkton, graduated from Dickinson College on May 17 with a Bachelor of Science in computer science. Kostrubiak graduated from Gilman School.

Kate Hall, a senior at Hereford High School, is the winner of the Northern Baltimore County Art Foundation's 2009 fine art scholarship. Hall plans to attend MICA as an art major, with an interest in photography.

William Bleser, of Upperco, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Va.

Molly Fitzhugh, of Monkton, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Va.

Amanda Wolf, an interior design major and a resident of Parkton, received on May 10 a Bachelor of Arts from Marymount University, in Arlington, Va. Wolf graduated summa cum laude from Marymount's Honors Program.

Kathryn Susman, of Parkton, received a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Lehigh University, in Bethlehem, Pa.

Heather Peluso, of Monkton, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at Elizabethtown College, in Pennsylvania. Peluso is a sophomore biology-premedicine major.

Andrea Miles, of Phoenix, a senior business administration and marketing major, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at Elizabethtown College, in Pennsylvania.

Caitlin Russell, of White Hall, a senior international business and finance major, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at Elizabethtown College, in Pennsylvania.

Sarah Goedeke, of Phoenix and a senior majoring in human development and family science, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at Messiah College, in Grantham, Pa.

Alison Fitchett, of White Hall and a senior majoring in humanities, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at Messiah College, in Grantham, Pa.

Thomas Fitchett, of White Hall and a senior majoring in Christian ministries, was named to the dean's list for the 2009 spring semester at Messiah College, in Grantham, Pa.

Matthew Councill, of Monkton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Councill, received May 10 a Bachelor of Arts from The University of the South, in Sewanee, Tenn. Councill's major was in economics.

Danielle Barnsley, of Baldwin, received a Bachelor of Arts in biology June 2 from St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Heather Bowden, of Sparks Glencoe, received a Bachelor of Arts in biology June 2 from St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Jeremy Butanis of Baldwin, received a Bachelor of Arts in physics June 2 from St.. Mary's College of Maryland. He graduated magna cum laude.

Matthew Decker, of Sparks, received a Bachelor of Arts in English June 2 from St. Mary's College of Maryland. He graduated magna cum laude.

Alissa Dutrow, of Monkton, received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and international languages and cultures June 2 from St. Mary's College of Maryland. She graduated magna cum laude. She also received Nitze Scholars Program recognition, for students who showed exceptional academic potential and a proven record of leadership and service.

Justin Lonsdale, of White Hall, received a Bachelor of Arts in economics June 2 from St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Bonnie Veblen, of Sparks, received a Bachelor of Arts in art June 2 from St. Mary's College of Maryland. She graduated summa cum laude.

Caitlin Daniels, of Glen Arm, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Villanova University, in Pennsylvania.

Abigail Balaban, of Phoenix, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2009 semester at Widener University, in Chester, Pa.
