An organ concert at St. James Episcopal Church, in Monkton, will be one of several in the state billed as “Organ Spectacular” by the American Guild of Organists.

The concert at St. James, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. will open with Bach’s d-minor Toccata and Fugue, also known as music from Disney’s “Fantasia.” The concert will close, at 5:15 p.m., with Eidor’s Toccata for Grand Organ.

Playing in the St. James concert will be Henry Chen, choirmaster and director of music for St. James, and Jeanne Klusewitz, the church’s organist.

Also playing will be Greg Bittle, director of the choir at Saints Agatha and James Church in Philadelphia; Diane Luchese, associate professor of music at Towson University; John Holland, organist and choirmaster at Immanuel Glencoe; and Margaret Budd, organist at Roland Park Presbyterian.

The concerts celebrate the Guild’s 2008-2009 International Year of the Organ.
