The B&O Railroad Station Museum in Ellicott City will display its annual Holiday Model Train Exhibit Nov. 27-Jan. 31, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The venue will exhibit a new custom built, multi-tiered, 360-degree O-scale model train layout. There will also be a miniature Thomas the Tank Engine G-scale layout and an N-scale model train layout. Admission is $5 general, $4 for seniors and students, $3 for children 2 to 12 and free for anyone younger than 2. Call 410-461-1945.
Trees for charity
The Kennedy Krieger Institute's annual Festival of Trees will ring in its 20th year with fairyland forests, gingerbread towns and more than 500 decorated trees when it happens this year Friday-Sunday, Nov. 27-29, in the Maryland State Fairgrounds' Cow Palace in Timonium. The event, billed as the largest holiday event on the East Coast, raises money for kids with disabilities. There will also be live music by Milkshake, a visit from Cal Ripken, and a Santa letter-writing station. Hours are Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission is $10 general; $5 for kids and seniors. Call 443-923-7300.
World Trade wine
The World trade Center Institute in Baltimore City will hold a 20th Anniversary Wine Tasting next Wednesday, Dec. 2, 4-6:30 p.m., at the WTC Baltimore, located on the 21st floor of 401 E. Pratt St. GiraMondo Wine Adventure will cater the event, which will offer wine "Vegas" table games and wines from around the world. Tickets are $25 for members and $50 for non-members. Schools sing out
Several of the area's high schools will perform in the Yuletide Caroling Series, which kicks off Friday, Nov. 28, on the third floor of the Gallery. (200 E. Pratt St.). Upcoming performers include the Wilde Lake High School Madrigal Singers (Nov. 30, 3:30 p.m.); the Hammond High School Chorus (Dec. 1, 5 p.m.) and the St. Francis of Assisi School Young People's Choir (Dec. 4, 1:30 p.m.). Holiday premiere

Science for kids
The Maryland Science Center is closing out 2009 with a bunch of activities in its Kids Room. Come the next four Tuesdays, Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22, it will hold Preschool Storytime sessions at 11 a.m. The events will include stories, music, science activities, and hands-on fun. Let's turkey trot
The Y of Central Maryland's annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day will be held Thursday, Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. at the Towson Family Center Y (600 West Chesapeake Ave.).
