Members of the Baltimore County Democratic State Central Committee are looking for candidates to fill a vacant seat on the 11th Legislative District Democratic State Central Committee.
Applicants for the committee seat must be a registered democrat, a resident of the 11th Legislative District and at least 18 years of age.
The 11th Legislative District Central Committee will hold a public meeting July 17 at 7 p.m. for interested applicants to address the committee at the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Hall.
Applicants may make their presentation to the remaining members of the 11th Legislative District — Penny McCrimmon, Jill Kamenetz, Sheldon Caplan and Ted Levy — before the panel votes on their selection.
The candidate who receives a simple majority vote will be named to fill the vacant 11th Legislative Central Committee seat. If there is a tie in the voting between the four, then the full Baltimore County Central Committee will vote on the tied candidates.
Each member of the Baltimore County Democratic State Central Committee must attend at least four regular or special meetings of the committee and at least one meeting of the Maryland State Central Committee during any 12-month period.
Central Committee members fill vacancies of certain offices due to death or resignations of elected officials, and fill vacancies when no Democratic candidate has filed for nomination. Panel members also recommend to the governor appointment of the members and substitute members to the county’s Board of Elections.
