A man and a woman have been charged in the Tuesday shooting death of Lamont Blackston, of Granite, and county police say they are looking for two more suspects.

James Tanner, 27, of the 1500 block of Poplar Grove Street, in Baltimore, has been charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson.

Terrell Spencer, 27, of the 1800 block of Prestman Street, in Baltimore, has been charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit murder. She is being held at the detention center in lieu of $150,000 bail.

The relationship between Tanner and Spencer is not clear. Each gave conflicting accounts of how long they have known each other, said Cpl. Mike Hill, a police spokesman.

Cell phone records and a van owned by the grandmother of Tanner were instrumental in the arrests, police said.

Investigators were called to the home of Blackston, 35, in the 10200 block of Harrison Grant Drive, at about 3:35 a.m. Tuesday after Blackston was found by a family member.

Police believe several people met Blackston when he arrived home, and forced him inside. The suspects searched the house and shot Blackston before leaving, according to police.

Hill said investigators believe robbery was the motive, but investigators have not been able to determine what, if anything, was taken from the home.

Blackston owned or operated several businesses in the Baltimore area, including a convenience store on North Avenue, according to police.

An officer spotted a van coming from the area of Blackston's home and attempted to stop it near Old Court and Granite roads early Tuesday morning. The van sped away, leading the officer on a chase that ended in the city, according to police.

The officer lost sight of the van during the chase. The vehicle was found in the northern part of Baltimore City.

The van was registered to Tanner's grandmother, according to Hill, who added that police believe Tanner was driving the van during the Tuesday morning chase.

A cell phone owned by Tanner was used in the area of Blackston's home, according to charging documents filed in District Court in Towson.

Undercover detectives were looking for Tanner when he and Spencer were spotted driving on Martin Luther King Boulevard near Route 40 shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Police pulled the car over.

While police were talking to Tanner, officers saw Spencer attempting to disassemble a second cell phone also owned by Tanner, Hill said.

The pair were arrested a short time later.

Investigators continue to look for two other suspects.
