The fifth annual Trail Ride for Preservation will takes place Sunday, Oct. 25, and will cover new ground.

The equestrian ride starts at 10 a.m. at Slade’s Inn in Monkton and will wind its way through preserved farms, fields and trails. The ride will be led by members of the Elkridge Harford Hunt Club.

The annual ride is a fundraiser for North County Preservation, a nonprofit group that supports rural life in northern Baltimore County by encouraging responsible development and preservation.

The two-hour ride cost $40 and includes a box lunch. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by a parent. Horses must be comfortable riding in groups and be able to cross streams. Safety helmets are required.

This year's ride is sponsored by Graul’s Market in Hereford and equine veterinarian Charles Haugh.

For tickets, contact Carrie Gittings at carriegittings@comcast.net or go to www.northcountypreservation.org.

Slade’s Inn is located at 15820 Old York Road, Monkton.
