A former U.S. Marine was found shot to death in Woodlawn Monday morning.

Police are investigating the death of Grayson Edward Kenney Jr., 46, who was found dead in a driveway in the 3500 block of Tulsa Road.

Kenney had no fixed address and lived in a shed behind a house off Tulsa Road. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school but currently had no full-time employment and earned money by doing odd jobs around the neighborhood, according to police.

Residents say Kenney generally kept to himself and caused no problems in the community, police said. Neighbors told detectives they can think of no reason why anyone would want to kill him.

“Everybody knew him,” said Baltimore County police spokesman Bill Toohey. “Everybody saw him as harmless, even benevolent in a way.”

Homicide investigators believe the motive may have been robbery, but they have little meaningful information or evidence to work on, and are asking for the public’s help.

It is believed that Kenney was shot early Monday morning.

Anyone who heard or saw anything out of the ordinary overnight on that block or nearby is asked to contact Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587. Those contacting Metro Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and might be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
