A 21-year-old man has been charged with the death of his girlfriend’s 15-month old son.

Brian Savage was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the death of Cameron Williams.

Savage was alone with the boy in the apartment the three shared in the 1400 block of Hadwick Drive in Middle River, around 2:30 p.m. Sunday after the child’s mother went to work, county  police said, and there were no other people in the apartment at the time, county police report.

Savage told police he and the boy were “roughhousing” later in the evening when he found the child in an unresponsive state and called 911, according to police.

Paramedics took the child to Franklin Square Hospital, where he was declared dead.

An autopsy showed the child that died of multiple internal injuries, including damage to his lungs, liver and spleen.

Savage told detectives that while he and the child were playing, Savage rolled on top of the toddler and that might have caused the injuries, according to  police.

Savage is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson.
