The Baltimore County Council is expected to vote on Nov. 16 on a bill that would ban the use of tanning beds in the county by anyone younger than 18.

Democratic Councilman Vince Gardina said he proposed the bill after reading studies linking certain types of skin cancer to people who use the beds at a young age. Only minors with a doctor's order will be allowed to use the devices, under Gardina's bill.

The council was scheduled to discuss the bill at a Nov. 10 meeting in the Old Courthouse in Towson. That session occurred too late to be included in this edition of the Towson Times.

A final vote is scheduled for the Nov. 16 council meeting, 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the Old Courthouse.
