Catonsville resident Nicholas Mellendick, a junior at Mount Saint Joseph High School, is working as a volunteer to deliver food/meal baskets for the holiday to families affected by cancer.

Many families have sick children or are suffering themselves from this horrible disease.

Area residents who want to help should place a bag with non-perishable items labeled "Cancer Foundation" on their front porch and e-mail the address to lorimellen@yahoo.com or drop off a bag at 125 Forest Drive by Nov. 20.

Each basket will have an item from each of the following groups:

* Fruit

* Starch

* Vegetable

* Drink

* Protein

* Stuffing mix and jar or can of gravy

* Soups or dinners in a box

The goal is to have all of the ingredients for a meal except the fresh or frozen meat and fresh vegetable.
