Two women who live in two different Towson-area apartment complexes were robbed as they came home Sunday.

Cpl. Mike Hill, a spokesman for Baltimore County Police, said Monday the two incidents share similarities, but it’s too soon to say if they are connected.

Both robberies occurred Nov. 29. There were no weapons involved and there have been no other similar incidents reported so far, Hill said.

In the first incident, a woman was returning to her apartment in the Courthouse Square Apartment complex in the first block of Acorn Circle around 3:43 p.m., according to a police report.

Two other women approached the victim and a struggle ensued for her purse. The victim chased the two women and managed to tackle one that had her purse.

The victim got her property back. The two women ran to a nearby car where two men were waiting inside.

In the second incident, a woman was returning to her apartment in the  Fairways at Towson apartment complex, in the 6900 block of Lachlan Circle, around 8 p.m. Sunday night.

The victim was approached by a woman who asked to use her cell phone. The stranger made a call with the phone and when she finished she took the victim’s purse and ran away.

The victim told police the woman got into a black Honda Civic. That car was driven by a man, according to a police report.

Hill said investigators have a partial license tag number from the Lachlan Circle robbery.

Hill said there are some things people can do to help prevent being robbed when returning home or to a parked car.

• Park in a well-lighted place and as close to the door as possible.

• Have car or house keys out and in hand.

• Keep car doors locked and windows rolled up until you are ready to get out of the vehicle.

• Before getting out, look for people and cars that don’t belong in the neighborhood. If you feel uncomfortable, park in a different area or call 911.

• Avoid using cell phones or listening to music through earphones, as it can distract you from surroundings and make you a target.
