A Cecil County woman was killed and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Southwestern Boulevard in Arbutus Dec. 9, according to Baltimore County police.
Gail Gwiazdowski, 58, of North East, was at fault in the collision between the Subaru station wagon she was driving and a conversion van, and died on impact, said Louise Feher, a police spokeswoman.
Police received a call about the collision about 6:30 a.m., Feher said.
The collision occurred when Gwiazdowski, who was stopped in her vehicle in the right lane of northbound Southwestern Boulevard, attempted to make a U-turn across the left lane of the northbound road in order to head southbound, Feher said.
A Dodge conversion van traveling in the northbound left lane crashed into the driver’s side door of the Subaru, killing Gwiazdowski, Feher said.
The driver of the van, Lawrence Murphy, 41, of the 1000 block of Haver Hill Road in Arbutus, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in stable condition.
He was discharged on Dec. 11, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Also taken to Shock Trauma in stable condition was Helen Ward, 78, of the 4100 block of Glen Park Road in Nottingham, who was a passenger in Gwiazdowski’s vehicle.
Ward was treated and released on Dec. 9, the hospital spokeswoman said.
