Colin Campbell, 19, of Parkville, was the 100,000th person to receive a certification from the state board that qualifies career and volunteer firefighters.

On Dec. 16, Campbell was certified to the Firefighter I and Firefighter II levels.

Campbell is a three-year member of the county's volunteer fire service with membership in both the Rosedale Volunteer and the Providence Volunteer companies. He volunteers as an emergency medical technician and a firefighter.

Campbell is a sophomore majoring in criminal justice at Towson University and a 2008 graduate of Calvert Hall High School, in Towson

Campbell was given a special certificate from Fire Chief John Hohman and Division Chief Michael Robinson, chairman of the Maryland Fire Service Personnel Qualification Board, at the meeting of the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen's Association.
