The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) is temporarily closing and detouring the ramps from northbound and southbound Interstate-95 to westbound I-695 (Inner Loop) from 11 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 10.

Motorists on I-95 traveling to the Inner Loop of the Beltway will be diverted to eastbound I-695 to exit 9, Hollins Ferry Road, through the Hollins Ferry Road interchange and back to westbound I-695.

The temporary ramp closures and detours are needed in support of SHA’s project to widen and reconfigure the I-95 ramps to westbound I-695 near Catonsville.

The project, which began in January, will ultimately provide an additional lane along the ramp from southbound I-95 to westbound I-695 as well as a dedicated lane on the ramp from I-95 northbound to westbound I-695.

The improvements will reduce congestion on the ramps during morning and evening peak travel periods.

The project is expected to be completed this fall, weather permitting.

During construction, temporary lane and ramp closures may occur within the I-95/I-695 interchange between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and weeknights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

No lane or ramp closures are anticipated on either road between 5 a.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Sunday.
