County police have charged a 22-year-old Parkton man in connection with the alleged sexual assault in Manchester of an elementary school-age girl.

Eric Reider, who lives in the 17300 block of York Road, was charged June 30 with assault, and third- and fourth-degree sexual assaults.

According to charging documents, the girl told police and a Department of Social Services worker that Reider touched her inappropriately on five occasions dating back to August 2006.

It is Patuxent Publishing Co.’s policy to withhold information that could lead to identification of victims of sexual assaults.

The girl told investigators that Reider touched her, although she repeatedly told him “no,” according to the charging documents.

No hearing date has been scheduled on the charges. Reider is free on $50,000 bail.

Reider also faces a hearing for violating his probation on a 2007 burglary conviction.
In that case, Reider pleaded guilty to breaking into a Manchester home and was sentenced to 2 1/2 years of probation and ordered to supply a sample of his DNA.

A hearing on the probation violation is scheduled for July 14 at 9 a.m. in Circuit Court in Towson.
