Long detours because of bridge closings are over in Long Green and coming to an end in Monkton/White Hall.

The bridge on Long Green Pike, in Glen Arm, just south of Long Green Road, reopened Aug. 22, just in time for the start of school, Baltimore County officials announced last week.

The 28-foot bridge, built in 1916, was closed for 10 weeks while it was replaced.

It received temporary repairs last year until work could begin on its replacement. It cost $300,000.

The Big Falls Road bridge, which spans the Gunpowder Falls on the Monkton/White Hall line, is due to open in early October.

The 1933 bridge was closed a year ago.Its original arches have been replaced with concrete girders.

It is 88 feet long and cost $1.8 million.

The Long Green Pike bridge in Baldwin will be repaired in September, but the work will not require any road closures.

The concrete bridge, located at Baldwin Mill and Fork roads, has a span of nine feet. Work is estimated to cost $90,000 and is expected to be completed in a month.
