Credit cards stolen last month from a Parkton home may have provided the break police need in identifying and arresting two men who are now suspected in at least eight North County burglaries.
Police have released photos of two men taken at a Wal-Mart in Baltimore County.
The credit cards were stolen from a home in the 800 block of Stablers Church between 1 and 4 p.m. on Feb. 5. In that burglary, a jar of coins and credit cards were stolen from a home, according to a police report.
Detectives had few clues on the Stablers Church Road burglary and others in the area until two men used the stolen credit cards at the store and at two other locations in York and Shrewsbury, Pa., according to Cpl. Mike Hill, a county police spokesman.
Police have linked linked seven burglaries in the northern Baltimore County communities of Freeland, Parkton, Sparks and White Hall to the two unidentified men.
The burglaries include:
• the 1600 block of Walker Road in Freeland between 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 26. A home was broken into and ransacked but nothing was reported stolen.
• the 18700 block of York Road in Parkton, between 1 and 3:49 p.m. Feb. 5. A large quantity of jewelry including rings, bracelets and watches were stolen.
• the 20800 block of Keeney Mill Road in Freeland, between 7 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. Feb. 8. Two jewelry boxes were stolen from a home.
• the 20600 block of West Liberty Road in White Hall, between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. Feb. 9. Loose coins, a small flat-screen television, three digital cameras and a Bose radio were stolen from a home.
• the 20000 of Kirkwood Shop Road in White Hall, between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Feb. 9. A camera and a child’s mini-bike were stolen.
• the 15300 block of Priceville Road in Sparks, between 6:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. Feb. 10. Jewelry was stolen from a home.
• the 15800 block of Yeoho Road in Sparks, between 8:20 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Feb. 10. A 32-inch television and a can of coins was stolen from a home.
Hill said all of the burglaries involved single-family homes and the “same method of operation and use of force, breaking a window.”
Another burglary in Phoenix may also be linked, Hill said. Burglars took a large amount of jewelry, including rings, bracelets and watches, from a home in the 13700 block of Princess Anne Way between 7 a.m. Jan. 31 and 2:45 p.m. Feb. 8.
While that incident was further south than the others, “there are circumstances that lead detectives to take a look at it,” Hill said.
Hill asked anyone with information on the crimes or the two men in the photographs to call county police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587. Information may also be sent to Metro Crime Stoppers by sending a text message to 274637 and entering the message beginning with “MCS” followed by the information on the crime.
