The day also features games, music, food and crafts that start at 2 p.m., and fireworks at dusk.
To help defray the cost of fireworks, parade organizers are seeking 100 families willing to donate at least $50. Checks may be made payable to the Hereford Optimist Club, with "100 Families" in the memo line, and can be sent to Ken Bollinger, P.O. Box 243, Monkton, MD 21111.
Parade board president Leslie Sipes Pachol said volunteers are needed to help with children's bike parade and the Kids' Zone games and activities; and to carry buckets along parade route to collect donations. For registration information, go to www.herefordparade.org.
