Career fair for military, vets and spouses April 23

The Recruit Military Career Fair will be held Thursday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at M&T Bank Stadium.

Veterans, service members and their spouses will be able to interview with national, regional and local employers.

The event is sponsored by HireVets First, the American Legion and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network.

Donation to St. Agnes Hospital honors Colt great

Saint Agnes Hospital and the Saint Agnes Foundation announced that a $50,000 donation was made to the hospital's capital campaign in honor of legendary Baltimore Colts running back Lenny Moore and his family.

The anonymous donation, made in honor of Lenny and Edith Moore, Leslie Moore, and the Leslie Moore Scholarship Foundation, will fund two private rooms in the hospital's patient tower that is expected to be completed in late 2010.

The event was attended by former Baltimore Colts teammates Art Donovan and Jim Mutscheller, Dels. James Malone, who represents District 10A, Catonsville and Arbutus, and Nathaniel Oaks, who represents District 41 that includes Baltimore City, hospital staff, physicians and board members.

During the event, the Moore Family unveiled a Baltimore Colts jersey, helmet and football, all autographed by Lenny Moore, to be displayed at the hospital as inspiration for other contributors to Saint Agnes as well as a tribute to Lenny Moore's legacy.

Moore's son, died in January 2001 at age 43 after a nine-year battle against scleroderma, a rare autoimmune disease that involves tightening and thickening of the skin.

UMBC community made contribution to area groups

Students, faculty and staff at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, made 930 gifts totaling $160,000 to the Maryland Charity Campaign.

The Maryland Food Bank in Halethorpe was the top community agency designated for support by UMBC faculty and staff, with 55 contributions totaling more than $7,200.

Other area nonprofits designated for donations included Believe in Tomorrow National Children's Foundation, Chesapeake Center for Youth Development, The Children's Home, House of the Good Shepherd, Lighthouse, Inc., and Pregnancy Center, Inc.

The campus community also donated to the Office of Student Judicial Programs' sixth annual coat drive, which provides clothing and toys to the Southwestern Emergency Ministry Services, in conjunction with Arbutus United Methodist Church.
