The National Weather Service confirmed Thursday that a tornado touched down in Dundalk earlier this week.

The tornado carrying wind speeds of 70-miles-per-hour hit Baltimore County Tuesday afternoon during heavy storms throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area, according to the weather service.

Officials interviewed residents and examined damage in the area as they made their decision, the weather service said.

No residents reported injuries during the storm.
