Allen L. Myers Sr., 89, died Wednesday, July 1, at his Owings Mills, residence.

Born on Feb. 12, 1920, the lifelong-Owings Mills resident was the son of the late George Harrison Myers and Ada Pearl Belt Myers.

He was the husband of Patricia Lee Dougherty Myers, his wife of 68 years.

Mr. Myers was a plumber by trade. He was an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 521 and a member of the American Legion Post 116, the Bucks Club and the Reisterstown Moose. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed music and played the electric guitar.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tim Myers and his wife Becky, of Taneytown; Karen Sies and her husband David, of Reisterstown; Jean Archibald and her companion Jeff Pittinger, of Westminster; a daughter-in- law, Sarah Myers, grandchildren Shane Yelton, Abby Jackson, Tim Myers, David Sies, Carrie Sies, Hannah Archibald, Allen Myers, Aaron Myers and Allison Myers; great-grandchildren Paige, Sam and Finn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Allen L. Myers Jr. and his brothers George Myers and Robert Myers.

Family and friends attended a VFW service on the evening of July 8.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, in  Glyndon with Msgr. Lloyd Aiken officiating.

Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be offered to the charity of one’s choice.
