The Catonsville girls placed 12th with 366 points in the Class 3A Maryland State Cross Country championship race won by River Hill.
The Comets were led by sophomore Sarah Harding, who placed 43rd in 23:20.
Freshman Sophie Mantelli (54th, 23:46), seniors Allyson Norris (95, 25:19), and Sarah Willis (97th, 25:24), juniors Hallie Schmidt (104th, 25:36) and Francoise Mandengue (106th, 25:39) and sophomore Caroline Cerand (111th, 25:49) also ran on the sloppy rain-soaked course at Hereford High.
The Comet boys were 19th with 489 points in the race won by Damascus. Sophomore Will Barbagallo (45th, 18:50) was the top Comet male runner.
Junior Joe Matty (98th, 19:47), freshman Luke Chetelat (106th, 19:54), senior Kyle Crum (114th, 20:10), sophomore Seamus Ertel (147th, 21:10), junior Eric Crum (148th, 21:10) and senior Cameron Brinks (158th, 21:48) also ran for the Comets.
For the Western Tech girls, junior Niema Eaves placed 24th in 23:40 in the Class 1A race.
Sophomore Kehman Jones (51st, 20:31), senior Rodney Harris (63rd, 20:57), junior Dallas Boodhoo (72nd, 21:07) and sophomore Nick Nonn (83rd, 22:05) also ran.
