In 2008, they posted their best finish ever when they were runners-up to Dulaney.
The Wolverines topped that effort by claiming the 2009 crown.
This year's rebuilding boys squad only placed 12th behind champion Hereford, although the night wasn't completely lost for Elliott after a fine showing by the Wolverine girls.
They finished third and possibly may have been second if not for a disqualification in the first event of the meet -- the 3,200 meter relay -- when they plummeted from second to out of the running for points.
Hereford's girls (102) won the county title for the fourth straight year with Pikesville (55) second and Western Tech third (52).
"Our goal today was to close the gap with Hereford and make a push outdoors," Elliott said. "All in all, it was a pretty good day."
Junior Niema Eaves and sophomores Ashley Linton, Lena Titangi and Shavon Davis should be ready for redemption when they compete in the 3,200-meter relay at the Class 1A Central regional meet, Feb. 10.
Linton was the lone individual champion from Western Tech. The Randallstown resident captured the 500 in 1:25.70.
Junior teammate Shannon Monger was third (1:27).
Linton did exactly what she set out to do.
"I was looking for a PR (personal record) and I pretty much did that today, so that highlighted my day," Linton said.
Her previous best was 1:26.
"I got out and settled in and then where the pole vault is (about 220 meters from the finish), I picked it up and pretty much gave it all I've got," she said.
Linton, fourth in the 800 (2:37.40), attributes her improvement this season to practicing harder and running cross country in the fall.
"I think that really helped," she said.
Another Wolverine on the rise is 15-year old junior Eaves.
She was second in the 800 (2:34.10), just behind Hereford's Emily Vandewater (2:33.50) and second in the 1,600 (5:37.30), trailing only Dulaney senior Chelsey Bush (5:36.90).
Junior Nia Waters scored in the 55 dash (3rd, 7.79) and the 800 (third, 1:59.70) and 1,600 relay teams (fourth, 4:36.20).
For the boys, Jamal Francis was the lone individual to score, finishing fourth in the 500 (1:13.70).
The 1,600 relay squad, Francis, Kemahn Jones, Steve Carr and Cameron Richardson (2nd, 3:45.10) and the 3,200 foursome, Dallas Boodhoo, Marvin Lambert, Kenneth Futrell and Jones (fifth, 9:11.40) also contributed.
