Notes: UMBC opens its 41st season of intercollegiate basketball and its 23rd at the NCAA Division I level as the Retrievers host NCAA Division III member Stevenson University (formerly Villa Julie College) on Saturday, Nov. 15. Before the game, UMBC will unveil its championship banner for winning the 2008 America East Conference title and advancing to its first NCAA Division I Championship tournament.

Despite a four-set loss at Binghamton on Sunday, the Retriever volleyball team has qualified for the four-team America East Tournament beginning on Friday, Nov. 21. UMBC is now 16-11 on the season and 5-5 in America East play.

UMBC Director of Athletics Dr. Charles Brown is pleased to announce that a minimum of seven UMBC men's basketball games will be televised regionally this season on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), CN8 and Comcast Sports Net Plus.

Fox 1370 AM Sports Radio will broadcast the entire men's basketball schedule, beginning with the Saturday, Nov. 15 opener vs. Stevenson University. UMBC television schedule as of Nov. 4 (other games may be added). Dec. 3, Towson (MASN) 7:05 p.m.; Dec. 13 at Pittsburgh (MASN) 7 p.m.; Dec. 20, American (MASN), 7 p.m.; Jan. 14, at New Hampshire (CN8) 7 p.m.; Feb. 2, Boston Univ. (MASN) 7:05 p.m., Feb. 10, New Hampshire (MASN) 7:05 p.m.; Feb. 17, Vermont (CSN+) 7:05 p.m.
