Mike Flacco, of the Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville was drafted in the 31st round by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2009 MLB draft.

Flacco, 22, the younger brother of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, was the 926th player selected.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound freshman first baseman from Highstown, N.J., led the Cardinals with a .399 average, 14 home runs and 51 RBIs. He also had 13 doubles and four triples.

Robbie Harris, of Cardinal Gibbons School, was drafted in the 35th round by the Los Angeles Angels.

The 6-foot, 190-pound left-handed hitting shortstop was the 1,071st player selected.

He batted .499 with six home runs for the 18-8 Crusaders, who were Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference finalists.

Western Tech grad boosts Salisbury University track team

Western Tech graduate Quentin Briscoe helped Salisbury University win the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Championship for the sixth straight year.

Briscoe, a junior, won the 400-meter hurdles (55.32) and teamed with senior Zack Dickerson, junior Michael Marfut and freshman Paul Moore on the victorious 1,600 meter relay team (3:26.48).

The Salisbury women took second in the CAC championships with Catonsville High graduate Janay Johnson placing second in three field events.

The Sea Gull junior was second in discus (32.26 meters), hammer throw (34.77) and shot put (10.70).
